Free Fallin’: My Skydiving Experience

Back in December, one of my best friends told me he was moving to Germany for three years. He said “We need to go skydiving before I leave.” This is something I’ve wanted to do all my life so I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity. We drove almost 2 hours to Salisbury, North Carolina to the Rowan County Airport. We got harnessed up and met our jump professionals, mine was named Derek as well. We entered a small passenger airplane and also given our instructions. By now, my anxiety was at an all time high. Once we hit 10,000 feet in altitude my professional was like “You ready, man?” I told him “I’ve never been more ready!”

The door opened and I stepped out on the ledge. My professional said to me “I’m going to say ready, set, jump and we’ll go!” All I hear is “Ready!” By that point, I was free falling at 150 miles an hour. We free falled for about 40 seconds which felt like a life time. We fell for almost 5,000 feet until the parachute deployed. I was overlooking beautiful North Carolina. We glided for about 4 minutes until finally reaching the ground.

This is one of the greatest experiences I’ve had. Will I do it again? Yes, multiple times. I’m glad I got to share it with a great friend.

Below is a video of my skydive. Enjoy!
